Fab Food Friday- Bountiful Berries!
As children we are taught beauty comes from the inside, and although this phrase is closely tied with one’s character, beauty truly does come from the inside. As another familiar slogan explains, we are what we eat. Before we apply any cream or go under a knife, we should think about what we are putting inside of us. To stay young and youthful looking as we age, it is what we put inside our bodies, which will preserve our beauty the most. In a new series, we will be sharing some fabulous recipes, which integrate super foods into your diet.
Berries are a bountiful fruit filled with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. One usually reads that a great way to add berries to your diet is by throwing some in your yogurt or breakfast cereal. But to really maximize the impact of this powerful fruit, we decided to suggest something a bit more creative and looked up 3 recipes for you to try. Not all berry tarts, we picked out a great meal one can cook containing lots of berries!
Start your meal off with a tasty (1) Spinach-Blackberry Salad with Manchego and Prosciutto, this salad is only 137 calories per serving and includes another super food Spinach. Blackberries are packed with fiber, in one cup alone there are 8 grams of fiber, one-third of the daily recommendation of 25grams. For a protein, we chose (2) Rosemary Chicken Skewers with Berry Sauce; these delicious skewers received rave reviews and will complement the salad nicely. And there is no dinner without dessert, try a fresh (3) Summer Berry Pudding containing strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
